Our Mission

Our goal is to provide local youths ages 8-12 the opportunity to learn and love the game of baseball.

Little Lions League is chartered under Little League Baseball, the national organization founded in 1939 by Carl Stotz alongside community managers George Bebble and Bert Bebble. Here in Monmouth, the league plays out of Harmon Park and is run in partnership with the Monmouth Noon Lions, a local Lions Clubs International chapter.

The league is led locally by Dan Doyle, Monmouth Lions' Little League — with 5 Major League teams and 5 Minor League teams taking the field each season.

What We're About

01

Fundamentals First

Before wins and losses, we focus on the basics — throwing, catching, hitting, and understanding the game. Regular clinics and practices back up every game day.

02

Good Sportsmanship

Win or lose, kids learn to shake hands, respect the umpire, and support their teammates. That matters more than the final score.

03

Community Roots

Every team is backed by a real local business, and the league itself is run in partnership with the Monmouth Noon Lions — this is hometown baseball, not a franchise.

04

Just Have Fun

At the end of the day, our goal is for every kid to leave the field wanting to come back — that's what "learn to love the game" really means.

Leadership & Community Backing

The league is led locally by Dan Doyle, President & Chairperson, Monmouth Lions' Little League. Little Lions League plays out of Harmon Park (Diffenbaugh/Harmon Park) at 700 North D Street, Monmouth, IL.

Coming out of the pandemic, the league saw participation drop to just three Minor and three Major League teams — with real talk of shutting down altogether. Thanks to a resurgence of local interest and the generosity of sponsors like Smithfield Foods, the league has grown more than 50% to over 100 players this season. Read the full story on our News page.
